General Conics

Use the sliders to adjust the values of A, B, C, D, E, and F of the general conic. Note the value of the discriminant - if it is negative, the result is an ellipse (a circle if A=C and B=0); if it is zero, the result is a parabola; if it is positive, the result is a hyperbola. Also note the equation of the conic given in standard form. To change the viewing window, hold the shift button and left-click to drag the graph or use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out. You can also adjust the axes by holding the shift button and left-click on the axis you want to change.
